Transforming the Onboard Experience: Tevalis and P&O Ferries

June 4, 2025

Tevalis is proud to announce one of our latest strategic partnerships, with P&O Ferries and P&O Ferrymasters, one of the UK’s most established maritime transport operators.

With a long-standing reputation for excellence in passenger and freight services, P&O Ferries is undertaking a major technological enhancement across its fleet to further elevate the onboard customer experience.

At the core of P&O Ferries’ transformation is the deployment of Tevalis’ enterprise-grade EPOS ecosystem: purpose-built to meet the unique operational demands of this leading maritime and leisure environment.

A Strategic Approach to Operational Excellence at Sea

P&O Ferries faced several complex challenges common to large-scale transport and hospitality providers, including:

–  Supporting transactions in multiple currencies

–  Streamlining service delivery across diverse outlets

–  Enhancing customer service touchpoints throughout the passenger journey

Following a rigorous selection process, Tevalis was chosen to deliver an integrated, scalable, and future-proof solution designed specifically for high-footfall, multi-outlet environments.

Key Components Driving Transformation

To ensure that the onboard service aligns with evolving passenger expectations and operational objectives, P&O Ferries is implementing a range of Tevalis technologies across their eight-vessel fleet.

These include:

Customer-Facing Kiosk Solutions
Installed within QSR and retail environments, these self-service kiosks provide a more efficient ordering experience while improving throughput and convenience for passengers.

Kitchen Management Systems (KMS) and TevX mPOS
Tevalis’ KMS and TevX mPOS technologies support faster, more accurate order management and empower staff with mobility tools to deliver high-quality service across the vessel.

Multi-Currency Capabilities
Essential for international ferry routes, our innovative EPOS solution enables seamless transactions in various currencies, enhancing convenience and reducing friction for global travellers.

Integrated Technology Ecosystem
With native integrations to systems such as IndiCater (procurement and stock control) and Planet (payment processing), P&O Ferries benefits from a connected technology stack that ensures security, reliability, and operational agility.

Hardware-as-a-Service (HaaS) Model
Tevalis is providing all EPOS hardware under a comprehensive HaaS model. This eliminates upfront capital expenditure while ensuring consistent maintenance and support across the fleet.

24/7 Global Support
Our ‘follow-the-sun’ support model guarantees round-the-clock assistance for all operational teams, delivering peace of mind and minimising potential downtime. Tevalis’ in-house UK-based support centre is accessible 24/7, all year round.

Project Scope and Impact

This major project covers the full EPOS infrastructure for all eight vessels in the P&O Ferries fleet. Upon completion, the deployment will consist of:

–  Over 100 fixed and mobile POS devices

–  28 customer-facing kiosks

–  Dual-currency cash drawers

–  Fully integrated KMS systems

This comprehensive solution will enable:

– Optimised Service Delivery: Faster transactions and reduced queue times across onboard venues.

– Real-Time Data and Analytics: Actionable insights to support revenue management, staffing, and customer engagement strategies.

– Seamless Integration with Existing Infrastructure: Minimised disruption and improved return on investment through end-to-end compatibility.

A Partnership Focused on Innovation

As P&O Ferries continues to redefine what excellence looks like in maritime hospitality, its collaboration with Tevalis reflects a shared commitment to innovation, operational excellence, and superior guest experiences.
