Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre welcomes more than 150,000 people across its 20-week summer season. As one of London’s largest theatres, it needs food and drink operations that can keep service moving during short, high-pressure intervals.
Its previous EPOS system had grown gradually alongside the theatre. A mix of ageing hardware, newer equipment and outdated software created unreliable transactions, reporting gaps and too much manual administration. Teams were spending valuable time investigating discrepancies and compiling information from separate sources rather than using a connected system.

Industry:
Cinema & Theatre
Scale:
150,000+ visitors across a 20-week summer season
Challenge:
Manual reporting and dropped transactions
The Challenge
For a seasonal venue, flexibility is essential. The theatre needed technology that could expand for peak periods, support different food and beverage areas, and provide a quicker journey for guests ordering before a performance or during an interval.
It also needed confidence in the numbers. Dropped transactions caused discrepancies between till activity and funds received, while manual reporting made it difficult to identify issues quickly or gain a clear view of sales and stock performance.
“For myself, there was a lot being done manually. A lot of homemade spreadsheets and pulling information from here and there rather than using your till system to do that for you.”
Tanith Lindon
The Solution
After taking advice from fellow hospitality operators and reviewing potential systems, the theatre selected Tevalis for its EPOS capability, connected management tools and range of integrations.
The new system combines 13 reliable EPOS terminals with customer receipt printers, kitchen printers and all-in-one mPOS devices. It gives teams a mix of fixed and roaming service points, allowing them to adapt service around the theatre’s changing needs.
The technology ecosystem includes:
“We have a mixture of roaming machines and fixed-point machines. We also have Dojo Pockets, which have been amazing… Everything is a lot less chunky than it used to be.”
Tanith Lindon, Head of Bars, Dining & Commercial Events
The Result
More reliable transactions
The new system has virtually eliminated the dropped transactions that previously created discrepancies. Teams can now compare real-time payment activity with till data and investigate an exception more easily when one occurs.
Faster, simpler guest journeys
Clearer EPOS layouts reduce the number of steps needed to find products and complete an order. This helps teams serve more guests efficiently when demand is at its highest.
Practical insight without manual reporting
Immediate access to sales, cash and performance data has reduced the reliance on spreadsheets and time-consuming administration. The team can use insight to understand what is selling well, where attention is needed and how the operation is performing.
Technology that flexes with the season
The theatre can adjust its number of tills and operating setup as its seasonal requirements grow and contract. This gives the business more freedom to respond to changing demand without returning to a disconnected system.
“It’s two years on, and I’m really happy with the system. It was definitely a good decision to make. Tevalis has saved us a huge amount of time, extra office time that was spent trying to sort out things that had gone wrong.”
Tanith Lindon, Head of Bars, Dining & Commercial Events
